Rhys brings a wealth of sports experience to the Columbia Valley, hailing from Adelaide, South Australia. During his time in Australia, Rhys distinguished himself as a standout player for the Junior State beach volleyball teams and the South Australian Sports Institute. His dedication to sports extends beyond the playing field, as he has become a certified teacher and coach in both volleyball and Alpine Skiing.
 
Currently residing in Golden, BC, Rhys serves as an educator at the local high school while overseeing the athletic department. His commitment to fostering athletic talent is further exemplified by his previous roles, where he coached skiing for the Golden Kicking Horse Alpine Team and contributed to the success of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort ski school for over 7 years.
 
Rhys holds a dual bachelor’s degree in human Movement and Education from the University of South Australia. Additionally, he has earned a postgraduate certificate in Special Education from Queen’s University, and recently completed his Masters in Coaching at the University of Victoria.
 
Passionate about contributing to the growth of sports in the Columbia Valley, Rhys is enthusiastic about being a catalyst for positive change within the sporting community. His extensive background in coaching, education, and sports management positions him as a valuable member of the Pacific Sport Columbia Basin Board of Directors, where he looks forward to making a meaningful impact on the region’s sports landscape.
