PacificSport Columbia Basin is excited to present the IGNITE Athlete Development Program to facilities throughout the Columbia Basin.

The IGNITE Athlete Development Program supports youth ages 13–17 who want to take their training beyond regular practices. It focuses on building strong movement foundations, strength, mobility, and speed in a structured, supportive environment.

Developed by Canadian Sport Institute Pacific, BC’s hub for high-performance and national team athletes, IGNITE gives young athletes access to the same foundational curriculum used by over 150 Canadian National Team athletes as part of their performance pathway.

Athletes often describe IGNITE as higher intensity training that still feels encouraging and fun. They gain confidence, feel stronger and more powerful, and build friendships with other teens who are there to work hard and support each other. Parents appreciate the safe progression, quality coaching, and accessible pricing.

IGNITE targets the key building blocks that help athletes perform better in any sport:

  • Gymnastics-style movement skills – balance, coordination, body control, and spatial awareness

  • Speed – sprint mechanics, acceleration, and efficient running technique

  • Strength – age-appropriate strength training and lifting fundamentals

These elements build physical literacy, reduce injury risk, and prepare athletes for more advanced training and competition.

IGNITE is delivered in progressive levels

  • Level 1 – Entry point for athletes new to IGNITE. Focus on core movement skills, strength foundations, and safe technique.
  • Level 2 – For athletes who have completed Level 1. Builds on the foundation with more complex skills, higher demands, and greater training readiness.

IGNITE in the Columbia Basin

PacificSport Columbia Basin delivers IGNITE in partnership with local facilities and experts across the region, including communities such as Nelson and Fernie. Programs are hosted in sport science, fitness, and gymnastics environments so athletes can progress through the full curriculum.
